Shop the Block offers a discount card that gives consumers preferred savings at dozens of unique stores and restaurants in their local neighbourhood in and around Toronto. It all started with a business concept when the company’s founder wanted to help local, independent retailers compete for their share of area resident wallets.
With no prior experience starting up a web based business, the founder looked to the Brightspark Jumpstart Program to turn her concept into reality. The first step was to complete a feasibility study to determine if the concept was viable. Next, tapping into the vast business startup experience of the Brightspark management team, a business plan was developed. Finally, the business needed a cutting edge e-commerce website.
