Brightspark is all about great software companues! Over time, we have invested in, conceived of, designed and delivered software, mobile and Internet busineeses that have touched millions of people daily. Brightspark Ventures manages our investment portfolio of innovative Internet, mobile and software companies.


Our History


Brightspark was founded at the end of 1999. In its early years, Brightspark consisted of Brightspark Labs and Brightspark Ventures. Brightspark Labs was an incubator where new mobile, internet and enterprise software companies were conceived and built. Brightspark Ventures invested in the graduates from our Labs and in portfolio companies. Three notable graduates from the Lab were Think Dynamics, which was sold to IBM, Delos Technology which was acquired by Siperian and Borderfree which was sold to Canada Post.


Brightspark refocused on traditional early-stage Venture Capital in 2002. Brightspark Ventures I continued to make external investments.


In 2005, Brightspark Ventures II fund was launched, focusing on early stage software and internet businesses. Brightspark Ventures II has made a name as one of Canada’s most successful VC Firms. In 2011, one of Brightspark Fund II’s portfolio companies, Radian 6 was acquired by Salesforce.com.


Brightspark continues to manage its VC portfolio companies from its Montreal and Toronto offices.
